CTOD Choose Your Own Adventure Webinar Week 1

We have recently launched a CTOD Choose Your Own Adventure Webinar which has been very popular with about 40 people signed up to participate. It truly honors voice and choice, is classroom focused and collaborative.

Some of the topics include SEL Makerspaces, Jamboard, Google Classroom workflow tips, retrieval practice, Google Drawing, Sketchnoting and one of our favorites a CTOD app smackdown featuring Jacquie, Tony and Jason in which participants get to vote on the best app.

Week one of our online webinar is complete; Christine Rice from the High School has been watching some of the Google EDU in 90 videos which are quick 90 second videos from Google that highlight some of their products. One of her take-aways from the EDU in 90 where they looked at the new originality reports in Google classroom is.

“allowing students to check their own originality before submitting an assignment, placing the onus of checking for plagiarism on the student, and saves teachers time from copying and pasting into the Google Search engine to check for plagiarism”.

Christine also commented on the fact that currently you can only run three originality reports per Google Classroom. One work around is to create a new Google Classroom every ten weeks, then you actually have three originality reports per quarter. The other benefit of creating a new Google Classroom every quarter is your Google Classroom will be better organized and not have 100 plus assignments or links in it.
