Introduction to Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a fantastic tool for managing announcements, assignments and student work digitally. Minimize those paper piles on your desk and get your classroom up and running in the Google Cloud. Here we have a brief guide to get you started with your Google Classroom!
Once you are signed into Google Classroom with your work Google Account you are able to Join or Create classes. Click on the "+" in the upper right to Join or Create your Google Classroom. Classes that you are enrolled in as a student and classes that you teach appear on your Google Classroom like this. Click on the class name to navigate to the class. To unenroll, archive or delete a class click on the three dots in the upper right. You can also click on the folder icon to navigate to that class's Google Drive folder. Click on the "hotdogs" three horizontal lines on the top left to jump between classes and view assignments at any time.
Once you are in a class, Google Classroom separates it into three important sections. Your stream is a running list of all announcements and assignments that have been posted to the class. Any upcoming assignments will be listed on the left. Google Classroom also allows you as the teacher to invite students to your class. Your class code is listed in your stream as well as under your Students tab. As the teacher you can post announcements or assignments to the stream at any time. You can also save announcements and assignments as drafts to post later.
The Students allows you to invite, add, and communicate with students. Here you can set permissions as to whether students can post and comment in the Stream. You also have the ability to select students and "Mute" or "Unmute" them.
The About tab is a place for you to house course materials and information. You can add contact information, hours, course description and resources for your students to always have access to. You can now invite co teachers to your class as well.
Post announcements for students to view right to the Stream. You can attach files from your computer, or Google Drive, add YouTube media, or links. All of your work is autosaved! Choose to post right away or save as a draft for later. If you teach more than one class, you can post to multiple classes at once.
Assignments look the same as announcements but you can set a due date and time. Choose how students get attachments, you can have google classroom make a copy for each student to complete with the click of a button.
If you teach multiple classes, click the dropdown to select which classes you post announcements and assignments to. Note: you have to delete announcements and assignments from each class individually. You can't delete from all classes at once.
Edit or delete your assignment by clicking on the three dots in the upper right when it is posted to the stream or from the drafts.
