Technology Incentive Application Process

Goal To encourage unit members to use embed technology into instruction in a way that addresses the International Standards for Technology in Education, the HCSD Strategic Plan and Instructional Framework, and which results in the enhancement of teaching and learning, as governed by the HCSTA Contract (18-2-12). Process
  • The district provides opportunities for unit members to integrate technology for the purpose of improving student learning and student use of technology.
  • The unit member has a professional conversation with their supervisor to discuss a technology incentive plan.
  • The unit member submits the technology application to the supervisor by November 1st.
The supervisor reviews and submits the technology application to the Office of Instruction The unit member will receive an email with approval or information about the denial. At the end of the year, the unit member discusses the plan and results as part of his/her end of year APPR meeting, submits the quantitative and qualitative data and any additional documentation (either a shared electronic document or hard copy) to the supervisor by the last teacher work day of the school year. The supervisor submits the data and documentation (shared document or hard copy) to the Office of Instruction for final approval by June 30. The Office of Instruction submits authorization for stipend payment to the Business Office. Criteria:
  1. The unit member describes the ways and for what purpose the technology will be used as part of the instructional practice.
  2. The unit member describes how it will impact positively student learning.
  3. The unit member selects the appropriate International Standards for Technology in Education for Students and Teachers.
  4. The unit member describes how the use of this technology is embedded in instruction regularly and appropriately,throughout the school year.
  5. The unit member explains how this use of technology supports new instructional practice for the teacher.
  6. At the end of the year, the unit member has a professional conversation with their supervisor to discuss the plan and results, submits the quantitative and qualitative data and any additional documentation (either a shared electronic document or hard copy) to the supervisor by the last teacher work day of the school year.
  7. The unit member documents, using both quantitative and qualitative data, how the use of technology affected his/her instructional practice and the result it had on student learning.
    • Quantitative Data— Data that is measurable; examples include grades, assessment results/scores, Likert scale surveys
    • Qualitative Data— Data that is descriptive; examples include teacher written reflection, student responses to open-ended questions.
  8. Application is submitted for review to the supervisor by November 1.
NOTE: For those who are a part of the Hilton Teachers’ Association and whose roles are not exclusively classroom-based, this incentive and these criteria still apply. Slight modification and/or adaptation should be expected.
