Please Don't Ask Your Instructional Tech That

Please don't ask your Instructional Tech to come into your classroom to co-teach a lesson. If you do the next thing that will happen is your Instructional Tech will be so happy to teach a lesson that they might go overboard and introduce your students to some new tech ideas you don't want them to know.

Please don't invite your Instructional Tech to one of your collaborative meetings. If you do, the next thing that will happen is they will get the inside scoop on your planner and start suggesting ways to incorporate tech into your planner.

Please don't ask your Instructional Tech to help you set up and run a PearDeck or Flashcard Factory lesson. If you do, your class will be even more engaged than they already are.

Please don't ask your Instructional Tech to show you how to auto forward your Gmail to Outlook. If you do, you will have too much extra time on your hands from not having to check two emails.

Please don't ask your Instructional Tech how you can move everything into Google Drive. If you do, you will have no reason to call the help desk and ask "is that file really gone" from your computer that broke and was replaced last week.

Please don't ask your Instructional Tech to help design a spreadsheet, Google Form, Google Classroom or some other instructional tool. If you do your workflow will be too efficient and you won't have those muscular arms from carrying a giant bag home every night.

In all seriousness, please do invite your Instructional Tech into your classroom, team meetings and department meeting. We love co-teaching lessons, collaboratively planning, developing new tools and helping teachers develop more efficient work flows and empower your students.

Don't forget we have our new Tech challenge going and the first task is to invite your Instructional Tech to a meeting.
